Rachael’s love of dance began at the age of 3 and has never stopped, as she excels in teaching, choreography and performance. She began her studies with RAD Ballet in Sydney until the age of 7, until her family relocated to the South Coast where she joined the Nowra Dance Centre, studying Cecchetti Ballet Syllabus until her late teens. Under the guidance of Principle teacher Mrs Dorothy Curnow LISTD MA (Dance), MSc (Research), Rachael completed and passed with outstanding results, all of the Cecchetti exams up to Advanced level.
From the age of 13 onward Rachael received many amazing opportunities and awards for Ballet that she has cherished ever since. Participating and completing the Enrico Cecchetti Scholarship Foundation of NSW Silver Medal Test. Cecchetti Society of NSW Certificate of Merit for being chosen as a NSW Senior Scholar – selected students had the privilege of attending intense ballet classes with the renown David McAllister AM (Current artistic director and previous principal dancer with the Australian Ballet), Marilyn Jones OBE and other prestigious members of the Australia Ballet School.
Concluding her studies, Rachael completed an Executive Business Diploma, focusing on the development and motivation of young people, which has been a pivotal factor in her success as a dance teacher and mentor. Rachael is also an accredited Barre Attack teacher; a highly sought-out program focusing on bodily functions, correct training of muscle groups utilized in safe dance practice and the appropriate alignment, balance and control when executing movements.
Rachael attended Nowra High School and was actively involved in all things dance including the Rock Eisteddfod, Regional Dance Festival and the School Dance Troupe. For the past 7 years Rachael has been sharing her knowledge and love of dance with the local dance community and in School Dance Programs, specialising in Ballet and Hip Hop for all ages. Rachael won the reputable Stars of Shoalhaven Dance for Cancer two years in a row, against a tough and high-standard of competition. Rachael’s choreography has had significant successes across numerous competitions, both regionally and at a state-level, which is a true testament to her ongoing determination and dedication.
Rachael will continue her passion to share, teach and encourage in a nurturing environment the life-long benefits that dance offers to everyone, including to her own children. Her personable, warm nature and genuine sense of encouragement makes her an extremely valuable and well-liked teacher, whom we so grateful to have at KC.
